About Mitchell Minor Sports
Mitchell Minor Sports Inc was created with the motto: Sports for All - Get Involved. The founding members created MMS in the late 1970`s to have a governed body to ensure all who wanted to play sports were able and the system would have fair play for all. Hockey, Ringette, Fastball, Baseball and Soccer are under the Mitchell Minor Sports umbrella. All sports have their own elected committee with their set of rules or constitution to maintain along with their Ontario governing bodies. Our goal is to ensure all sports operate with fair play, maintain their constitution (guidelines). operate within budget & to provide support and guidance if needed. As well Mitchell Minor Sports Committee approves and maintains the following:
- Individual Sports budgets and financial transactions;
- Team sponsor contracts & collection;
- Fundraising coordination opportunities among sports;
- Provide team photographer contract for all sports MMS are also supporters of the projects that have evolved with the growing community and sport requirements to ensure our youth have a place to play.
The open voted positions are the Vice President, Secretary, Advertising and Directors. Positions within the individual sports are elected within their groups. The committee meets 9 times a year. (Excludes July, Aug and Dec) The meetings are open to public usually the fourth Wednesday of the month 7:00 pm at the arena. Many who have served on the committee have enjoyed the fellowship shared as parents and feel confident the decisions made are in the best interest of our children in all sports. Volunteering on the Mitchell Minor Sports Committee is not about our time spent it is about how time is spent with our youth. As responsible parents and citizens we need to remind ourselves volunteering is using the same concept that we teach our children when we register them in sports. Be a team player, do your best, have fun and most of all treat others with respect.
